Goodbye YoVille, Hello YoWorld!

From a Ville to a world, YoVille has gone global. "Ville"  that means town or city was recently changed to "World" for two main reasons.

According to Big Viking Games; " It was a necessary step in being able to obtain the game, but it also speaks to our goal of making the game bigger and better than ever before!"

A necessary step because the word "Ville" in game names is a trademark for Zynga and other gaming companies cannot use this term in their game names.

This doesn't have to be a bad thing. As BVG explained, the change indicates its goal of making the game bigger by transforming it from a town to a world.

Big Viking Games Will Fix YoVille Events

Creating an event is one of the main features in YoVille. Players use events to throw parties, host sales and meet new people. Unfortunately, this feature has been broken for several months and frustrated players are unable to enjoy the game like they did before.

The transfer of YoVille to Big Viking Games will solve this problem. BVG announced that they will be bringing events back for players to enjoy:
"We will be rebuilding the event technology to allow players to host events once again!"

This is great news for everyone. Restoring events will bring many players back to YoTown.

" While YoVille may live, it’s clear that Zynga doesn’t want it. Under new chief executive Don Mattrick, the social game publisher is focusing on mobile going forward."

Zynga's Don Mattrick: You Have to Move On To New Products & New Experiences

In an interview for GamesBeat, Zynga's CEO Don Matrick gave a general and vague answer to an indirect question about YoVille.

GamesBeat: I looked at the YoVille decision, and that seemed to capture a lot of the difficulty of the business right now. You have an installed base of people who are used to games that are more historical.

Mattrick: We have a whole mix. The company started early inside of this category. We shipped lots of hits that people love. We appreciate our audience being engaged. We’re learning how to support and nurture different communities. At the same time, at a certain point in time, you have to move on to new products and new experiences. We’re trying to find the right balance with that.

I appreciate any consumer who gives their time and supports our products. We’re trying to always over-deliver value to them with everything we do.

The CEO did not comment on the negotiations with Big Viking Games.

Big Viking Games: We're Not Able To Share Any Updates

Big Viking Games assured YoVille players that they are reading their messages. Unfortunately, the company did not share news about the YoVille deals and especially after the question marks raised by the recent issues that appeared in game:

YoVille Players Report Game Changes. Is YoVille Saved?

YoVille players are reporting many changes in the game. First of all, the closure announcement disappeared and players can log in directly to the game. The word sunset in the page address is also gone. Also, new players can join the game again and create their avatars. Players reported the return of the tabs on top of the game window with send gifts and buy YoCash still not working. On the other hand, buddy lists are not working and the auction icon disappeared.

Although these changes are interesting, we are still waiting for an official statement especially that both Zynga and Big Viking Games have been suspiciously silent in the last few days.

Are you noticing any changes in the game? Do you think Zynga sold YoVille? Tell us in comments.
